Activism
Manchester Literature Festival
From viral billboards to guerrilla projections on Parliament, Led by Donkeys have taken political satire and direct action to a whole new level. Hear the story behind their book, Led by Donkeys: Art, Activism and Accountability – a high-octane, visual journey through five years of political chaos and creative resistance.
With over 200 striking images, maps, behind-the-scenes plans, and unbelievable stories (including the time they duped Hancock and Kwarteng), this is your chance to hear how four friends with a printer and a ladder became the most impactful protest group of our time.
Led By Donkeys was founded in early 2019 with late-night billboards quoting leading Brexiters’ historic tweets. Suddenly reaching millions of people, they have continued to address everything – from the Covid crisis to the shameful treatment of migrants – mixing art and activism to create some of the most memorable images and interventions of our political age.
