Born in High Lane in 1904, Isherwood became one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and an early figure of the Gay Liberation movement.
The Heritage Library is home to part of the Isherwood family collection, which offers a unique glimpse into the early life of the writer and his family history. Many of the items on display were studied by Isherwood himself while researching his family autobiography, Kathleen and Frank (1971).
Learn more about the writer’s connection to Stockport and drop into the Heritage Library throughout February.
To get hands-on with selected materials from the collection, join us also on Friday the 13th of February in the Archive Search Room for an open archive handling session.
