Part of Prologue’s Opening Season, a curated programme of special events celebrating our first weeks in Stockport.

Join mixed media creative and online sensation, Martina Calvi, for an evening of crafts. After grabbing a tea or coffee, you’ll join us for a workshop with Martina, the mind behind indie print-only publication TINY ZINE, as you create your very own snail mail.

Every ticket includes a copy of the book which Martina will sign on the night, and a hot drink from our cafe. Please bring any materials with you that you might wish to incorporate into your snail mail.

What is Snail Mail?

Snail mail is much more than simply sending a letter through the post. It’s a creative, handmade form of correspondence that combines letter writing, paper crafts, collage, illustration, journaling, and gift-giving into a personal art object.

Martina’s approach treats mail as a small, tangible experience for the recipient. Rather than a plain note, a snail-mail package might include: Bold sticker letters, ‘open when…’ letters for moments of connection, cozy care kits, embroidered postcards, tiny newspaper entires to celebrate life’s everyday achievements, and much more.

About the Workshop

Martina’s Snail Mail Tea Party workshop will be themed around self love and reflection. You will be guided through journalling techniques to create love letters to your future self.

The workshop will last for one hour, after which Martina will sign your books.

About The Art of Snail Mail

The Art of Snail Mail is every post lover’s companion to sending mail, inspiring you to connect with your crafty side and your loved ones.

Martina starts out with the basics, sharing the ritual of letter writing, the anatomy of a beautiful letter, how to create your unique signature and make your own wax seals and envelopes. With tips on finding pen pals and starting a snail mail club, community is at the heart of Martina’s third book.

A love letter to real analogue post, The Art of Snail Mail is a true celebration of sentimentality and creativity.
