Antony Beevor’s masterly accounts of traumatic twentieth century events – in books such as Stalingrad and Berlin- have made him easily one of the UK’s most esteemed historians. Now he turns his attention to the collapse of the three centuries- old Romanov dynasty through the lens of a figure who still exerts a macabre fascination on our collective imagination: Grigory Rasputin. Beevor’s compelling account asks: how could this largely illiterate self-styled holy man and healer have risen to such a position and diverted the course of twentieth century Russian history? In this special event Antony Beevor discusses his new and revelatory work.
This event will consist of an author talk, Q&A and book signing. Doors open 6:30pm. ‘Ticket with Book’ option includes a copy of Rasputin (RRP £25) to collect at the event.
