Author Nell Stevens (‘Mrs Gaskell & Me’, ‘Bleaker House’) discusses her acclaimed debut novel, ‘Briefly, A Delicious Life’, at Didsbury Arts Festival 2023.

In 1838 the writer, George Sand, and her lover, the ailing composer, Frederic Chopin, retreat to a monastery in Mallorca for a working ‘honeymoon’. Beset by damp, illness and hostile locals, the events of their ill-fated sojourn are witnessed by Blanca, the ghost of young girl, who died centuries earlier.
