Anjuman means a gathering, a shared space for reflection, focus and celebration with poetry. This mushaira series brings poets, community members and audiences together around different aspects of our collective lives. The first Anjuman takes women’s lives and experiences as its focus, drawing on feminist poetic traditions as well as other aspects of women’s lives, achievements while welcoming people of all genders into a shared space of listening and response.
Poetry will be shared in South Asian languages and English by invited poets, community groups and audience members, celebrating women’s voices, stories and contributions, and recognising that what happens to women is a collective responsibility.
Manchester City of Literature is committed to inclusion and accessibility for everyone.
