Join us for an evening of poetry and music featuring two of the Caribbean’s most celebrated writers.

Trinidadian poet, novelist, academic and musician, Anthony Joseph will perform work from his stunning new collection ‘Sonnets for Albert’ – a series of elegies exploring his complex relationship with his charismatic but often absent father as well as masculinity, loss and longing. Poet Laureate of Jamaica and multi-award-winning novelist and essayist, Olive Senior will share work from ‘Hurricane Watch: New and Collected Poems’, combining her first four collections with a wealth of new work covering themes of nature, childhood, belonging, gender, race and colonial history.

There will also be songs from Ellouise Bridge and new work from Shirley May and the Manchester based collective Young Identity inspired by cultural Black icons. Hosted by Reece Williams and Nasima Bee, presented in partnership with St John’s Church.
