See debut authors Jennie Godfrey and Andrev Walden discuss their brilliant, best-selling novels, The List of Suspicious Things and Bloody Awful in Different Ways, at this intimate event. From 1980s Yorkshire to 1980s Sweden, both novels offer rich portraits of communities seen through the eyes of unforgettable young narrators, navigating secrets, shifting relationships and growing up in a changing world.
A Sunday Times bestseller, Jennie Godfrey’s The List of Suspicious Things follows 12-year-old Miv and her best friend Sharon as they investigate a string of disappearances in their Yorkshire neighbourhood.
Andrev Walden’s vivid and tender coming-of-age story, Bloody Awful in Different Ways (translated by Ian Giles), follows young Andrev as he grows up surrounded by a rotating cast of ‘fathers’ – seven in seven years. His debut novel was winner of the prestigious August Prize and a runaway bestseller in Sweden.
Supported by the Swedish Arts Council in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden, UK, as part of the Stories From Sweden programme.
