Learn more about Manga, the distinctive and popular art of Japanese comics. Discover the basics of drawing in manga style and create your own manga characters.

Join professional Japanese manga artist Chie for this fun filled 2-hour session.

The sessions are free, and all materials will be provided.

Your manga drawings may also be included in a special exhibition at the Manchester Festival of Libraries 2023.

Spaces are limited to x10 people per session, so booking is essential.

The sessions are aimed at 12-18 year olds, all under 16’s will need to provide a parents email address during the booking process.

About Chie

Chie is UK based Japanese manga creator and illustrator. After graduating from Royal College of Art, London, she’s been creating many works, which are often very delicate and romantic in style.

Her books are available at the most of English speaking countries. Also some of them are translated in Turkey, France, Italy and Spain.

Besides creating manga comics, she also runs manga workshops at schools, universities, libraries, and museums, such as the British Museum, the British Libraries, the Royal Academy of Arts, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She has worked on projects for several others including UK Japan Embassy, Iceland Japan Embassy, BBC, Channel 4, CNN, Wagamama, and Winsor & Newton.
