Oddsocks (performance group) & Kagyu Ling Buddhist Centre
Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is 430 years old this summer and award-winning touring theatre company Oddsocks are celebrating with a three-month tour of the play to venues from Cumbria to the Channel Islands.
Oddsocks is renowned for bringing originality, knockabout humour and live music to their productions and this summer will prove no exception as the company whisk you from a familiar contemporary urban setting to the magical forests nearby with this unique take on Shakespeare’s most well-known and best loved of plays.
Four lovers run off to the forest where mysterious woodland creatures play tricks on them with hilarious results and when a troupe of amateur actors decide to rehearse in a glade, the fairies intervention leads to bizarre and outrageous comedy.
When outdoors, the performances will go ahead in all but the very worst weather, so do make sure to wear appropriate clothing and bring seating. Suitable for all from 7-107.
