Join Chartist scholar Mike Sanders and poet Tom Branfoot to explore the world of Chartist poetry.

In this collaborative workshop, we will discover what poetry meant to this incredible working-class movement whose demands for democratic reform shaped our modern electoral system.

Discussions and generative writing exercises will touch on the progression of poetry written by Chartist figures in relation to historical developments, how political change can be imagined through poetry, and to consider how contemporary poetry can be conceptually and formally radical through these lyrical documents from the 19th century.

This is a free event but booking is necessary through Eventbrite.

This event is part of The Sun Inn Poets project. To find out more follow our Instagram @thesuninnpoets.
