The Literary Map of Gdańsk Residency Programme, organised by the House of Literature in Gdańsk (Dom Literatury w Gdańsku), is open to artists from Poland and abroad who are active in the fields of literature or visual arts. The objective is to create a new set of cards inspired by the life and work of Maria Janion, which are to complement the pilot edition of the Literary Map of Gdansk issued in 2025.
The recruitment for the Programme will result in the selection of a creative duo: a writer and a visual artist. They will be responsible for preparing the next edition of the Literary Map of Gdańsk together. Both duo applications and solo applications will be accepted, with priority given to duos.
Applications will be assessed by a committee consisting of two representatives of the House of Literature in Gdańsk and one of the individuals involved in the previous edition of the Literary Map of Gdańsk. Detailed description and evaluation criteria can be found in the residency programme terms and conditions and in the review forms attached to the announcement.
The Residents participating in the programme are entitled to free-of-charge accommodation in a single room in an apartment in Gdansk, to substantive and logistical support and to a gross fee of PLN 1,100 a week. While in Gdańsk, they will also have an opportunity to participate in networking visits related to the residency and in events organised by the House of Literature in Gdańsk.
Duration of Residency:
The residency stay may take from 2 to 5 weeks (with the possibility of being divided into two stays of at least 2 weeks) and must take place between early April and mid-July 2026. The exact dates of stay will be agreed directly with the residents selected in the recruitment.
