Slam-o-Vision is spoken word’s answer to Eurovision – a Global Poetry Slam between spoken word artists from UNESCO Cities of Literature all over the world.

In 2020 the Manchester entry was the joint winner of Slam-o-Vision, so we had the honour of hosting the event in 2021. We think with the talented writers and performers in our city that there’s a really good chance one of you will win again!

Manchester UNESCO City of Literature is offering a prize of £50 to the poet who represents our city at Slam-o-Vision 2022. The selected poet will represent Manchester via a pre-recorded video at a live streamed event held in Nottingham in November 2022 (date tbc). 

If you live, work or study in Manchester and are over 18 you are eligible to apply. 

The deadline for entries is Midnight, Sunday 16th October 2022.

POEM / VIDEO GUIDELINES:

• Your poem can be on any topic or theme 
• Your poem must be a maximum of 3 minutes in length 
• Your poem must have no music or accompaniment
• You must not use any props or costumes 
• Your poem can be performed in any language (but if it is not in English, please provide the English translation and subtitles with your video) 
• Your poem can be a pre-existing video, but please ensure it is not branded and be mindful that this will be your final submission should you be chosen to be our representative.

• MAIN BODY: Please make sure you include your name and contact email in the body of the email and confirm that you live, work or study in Manchester – and that if your poem wins, you’re happy for it to appear on the Slam-o-Vision website for the grand final of the competition.
