This residency is for a City of Literature writer, designed to promote the understanding and the friendship of the Cities of Literature network. Residents will stay at Toji Cultural Centre for the duration of the residency. This is considered the hub of literature in Korea. Since its residency program started in 1999, Toji Cultural Centre has benefited a combined total of 1,200 writers and artists from home and abroad.
A writing desk at Toji Cultural Centre will also be provided. Writers will have the chance to connect with other writers and artists at Toji Cultural Centre. A round-trip air ticket and airport transfers (arrival and departure) will be provided to the successful resident. Organic meals will be provided by the canteen (please note that on Saturdays, only lunch will be provided and no meals on public holidays, with a light breakfast available to all writers. A fridge will be in each writer’s room).
Applicants must be fluent in English, with a minimum level of B2 for communication. Writers are encouraged to relax, enjoy the environment and immerse themselves in their creative project and practice. Therefore there are no official requirements, but writers will be invited to connect and make friends with local Korean writers and artists.
