Prague UNESCO City of Literature are offering eight two-month residencies for writers and translators in 2027.

Prague is a beautiful city where historical architecture meets modern and vibrant city life. Successful applicants will stay in Kafka’s House in the historic centre of the city, and will participate in the local literary scene. They are also expected to produce a text inspired by the residency, which the Municipal Library in Prague will use to promote future residencies.

The residency offers writers and translators accommodation, travel expenses and a monthly stipend of 15,000 CZK (approx. 600 euros). There are eight residencies available, which will be held in:

• January – February
• March – April
• May – June
• July – August
• September – October
• November – December

The deadline for applications is 7th August 2026. The results will be announced before 31 October 2026.
