The programme was established with the aim of strengthening international cooperation in the cultural sector, particularly in literary creation.
The programme is open to writers residing in any country and writing in any language. They must have published at least two individually authored books.
There are two places on offer, each offering a 30 night residency from Monday 2nd November to Tuesday 1st December 2026 at Corrala de Santiago, University of Granada.
Granada UNESCO City of Literature will cover the round trip travel expenses for each selected writer – though transfers between the writers home and departure airport will be the resident’s responsibility.
Granada UNESCO City of Literature and the University of Granada will facilitate opportunities for resident writers to engage with Granada’s literary life, meet local authors, and participate in workshops and educational activities – whilst also working on their own projects.
For full details – including eligibility, what is expected of the selected residents, and how they will be selected – visit this webpage.
The application form can be downloaded from the link above, and must be submitted by September 6th 2026.
Please note: any questions about the residency – including eligibility and applications – should be directed to Granada UNESCO City of Literature on talleres@granadaciudaddeliteratura.com
