Join host Tony Curry and special guest Paul Cookson for an evening of poetry and spoken word.
August’s special guest, Paul Cookson, was brought up near Preston, Lancs, and now lives in Retford, Notts, where he is the official Town Crier. He has worked as a poet for more than three decades, performing in schools, libraries, and at literature festivals across the world. He is a National Reading Hero award winner, a National Poetry Day Ambassador, and poet in residence for the National Football Museum and Everton in the Community – and the glam rock band Slade have proclaimed him their very own Poet Laureate! Paul created the children’s series Bluenoses with Martin Chatterton, and has more than 60 published titles to his name – including the ‘teacher’s Bible’ The Works. His latest poetry collections, Slim Volume and Psycho Seagull Stole My Dog, are available now from Flapjack Press and all good bookshops.
Book your 3-minute open mic slot from noon on Tuesday 28th July via mail@flapjackpress.co.uk.
Performance slots are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis from the stated booking time. If they are already filled, you will be offered a place on the reserve list.
