The Writers’ Social is an invitation for new writers and poets to mix with the lively literature scene here in Manchester, a UNESCO City of Literature since 2017.

New to the city with an interest in or studying in literature? Gather to meet newbies and professionals alike who are in the literary community.

There will be readings from some of the city’s most exciting poets: Leyla Barakat, Jeremy Pak Nelson and Abhijeet Singh. Alongside a talk by a local publisher, a zine-making workshop from Self Publishing Picnic and extra literary goodies, games and giveaways. Team Trident Press, a local RISO publisher, will be creating a pamphlet to distribute on the night from the performing poets.

This is a relaxed event and is a great way to connect and collaborate. The bar will be open and there will be music in between all the festivities. This event is part of The Cultural Welcome, a special week of student events around the Oxford Road Corridor, Manchester’s Knowledge Quarter.
