Abhijeet Singh and Tom Branfoot present a workshop interrogating Transatlantic threads in the history of Manchester through engagement with archival material: from the baptism record of Indiana Mundi, a young enslaved girl at Manchester Cathedral, to abolitionist movements and the Lancashire Cotton Famine.

Participants will engage in creative writing strategies to thread these complex and often contradictory histories together, intertwining them with present concerns to create a layered understanding of this city built by cotton capital.
