Levenshulme Old Library is delighted to be hosting Unheim-Lit, an evening of strange and uncanny spoken word by some of Manchester’s finest women writers.

From published writers to emerging voices, this event will celebrate women’s writing whilst raising money for Levenshulme Old Library.

Featuring:

Abi Hynes is an award-winning drama and fiction writer. Her recent writing credits include Anne of Green Gables, an audio drama for Audible starring Sandra Oh and Catherine O’Hara, and Monstrous Longing, collection of short stories

Gaynor Jones is the author of Among These Animals. She has won the Northern Writer’s Award, the Bath Flash Fiction Prize and the Mairtín Crawford Short Story Award, among others.

Zena Barrie is a writer based in Manchester. Her debut novel, Your Friend Forever, was published in 2021.

Marie Crook is a writer based in Manchester. Her work has been published in Confingo, The Real Story and Ghosts at the Old Library, among others. She has performed at venues including Manchester Central Library.

Hosted by Jo Howard, a regular on the Northern spoken word scene, Jo runs Book Jive Live, a Zoom open mic for kidlit and YA and is a former co-host of the award-winning Verbose. Her work has been published in Confingo, 100 Voices and Ghosts at the Old Library.
