On Wednesday 25th November the Manchester Book Fair took place online! Running 9am-8pm we invited 12 Manchester publishers to take part and celebrate all things local publishing.
Our publishers have really suffered during the pandemic, there’s no live book launches, readings or events where books might normally get bought, and they’ve had to adapt fast to keep up with the changes.
We brought together Carcanet, Comma Press, Commonword, Confingo Publishing, Flapjack Press, Fly On The Wall Press, Harper North, Hachette Kids, Manchester Unviersity Press, Nightjar Press, Saraband Books and Seven Arches Publishing.
There were brilliant sales to celebrate when you buy direct, and we’ve still got great videos of author readings so you get a sneak peek of each selection, still available on our YouTube channel.
We also hosted exclusive Q&A’s with publishers on our Twitter account throughout as well as sharing their top picks and deals of the day. You can check out the hashtag #MCRBookFair and follow the publishers to see the conversation.
It was the perfect place to get Christmas presents for everyone, and lots of the offers and discounts are still available. Do your bit by visiting the book fair page, listed below, and remember to buy local and indie to show your support for Manchester publishers during this difficult year.
