At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, in one Ukrainian village, a story took place that spread around the world.

Join us for a thought-provoking and unique screening of How to Make a Tank Disappear, a captivating video performance that explores an extraordinary story from the beginning of the war in Ukraine. In a small Ukrainian village, local Roma people managed to steal a Russian tank, and within a single day, this high-tech combat vehicle mysteriously vanished without a shot being fired. What followed was even more astonishing—mortars, cannons, rockets, and other weapons also disappeared.

The video-performance, created by Kherson Theatre Lab as part of the British Council’s Creative Producers Program, delves into the reasons behind these disappearances and explores why the Roma people were not punished.

The film is in English with Ukrainian subtitles, and the screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the film’s author, Mykola Homanyuk, Associate Professor at Kherson State University.

Film Duration: 30 minutes
Q&A: With Mykola Homanyuk
