House of Books & Friends

Partner
Located on King Street in central Manchester in the former Reform Club, House of Books & Friends is an independent bookshop with an important mission – to combat loneliness in the community.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC) we exist to make our world a better place. Our aim is to bring people together, connecting them through a love of books and providing a safe space to do so. Working with fellow charity and not for profit partners we will help those most isolated within the community, giving them opportunities and support to lift them out of loneliness and connect with others.

We ensure that for every purchase you make or amazing event you attend, you are directly helping us plough 100% of profits back into projects which directly address social isolation and loneliness. We can quite literally help people turn a page and start a new chapter.

Our stunning bookshop, in addition to stocking a well curated selection of titles, will be home to our knowledgeable Bookselling team (who eat, sleep and dream books) and we hope this will become a home away from home for you too. Come and immerse yourself in a world of books, pick up that perfect present and chat to likeminded book lovers.

In addition to our quirky bookshop we also have a beautiful café run by a fellow not for profit, Change Please <link www.changeplease.org> who will provide the essential tasty treats and delicious aromas every good bookshop should feature.

We also have a unique events space where we will host workshops, readings, screenings and which will be available to hire for a whole range of events and occasions.
